We are looking for a litigation associate to join a respected boutique law firm in Oakland, California. This opportunity is suited for attorneys with experience in civil litigation who want to deepen their work in product liability and toxic tort matters while contributing to other complex disputes. The role offers direct involvement in significant cases, close collaboration with accomplished trial lawyers, and strong potential for long-term career growth.

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day litigation tasks across product liability, toxic tort, and other complex civil matters from initial case assessment through resolution. Prepare persuasive motions, briefs, discovery responses, and other legal filings with a high level of accuracy and strategic focus. Conduct written discovery, review case records, and analyze factual and legal issues to support defense strategies. Participate in depositions, witness preparation, expert coordination, and broader trial readiness efforts as cases progress. Work closely with clients to provide updates, gather critical information, and address litigation needs in a responsive manner. Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy for matters involving statewide or multi-matter litigation exposure. Support hearings, court appearances, and other advocacy-related activities while strengthening litigation and courtroom skills. Active membership in the California Bar in good standing. At least 3 years of civil litigation experience, with consideration for attorneys in the 2-7 year range. Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, and other substantive legal documents. Experience handling discovery and evaluating complex factual records in contested matters. Strong interest in or prior exposure to product liability, toxic tort, medical malpractice, or commercial litigation. Excellent analytical thinking, written communication, and organizational abilities. Ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, experts, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced legal environment.
