Immigration Attorney 3296 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606 Part-time, Full-time Part-time, Full-time Immigration Attorney - Part-Time or Full-Time The Law Office of Carlos Buskievicz is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join our legal team in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This position may be structured as either part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate's availability and experience. Our practice focuses primarily on family-based immigration, humanitarian immigration matters, and removal defense. The attorney will assist with the preparation, review, and management of cases before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, and Connecticut Probate Courts. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and comfortable working directly with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Prior immigration law experience is preferred but not required. Training and supervision may be provided to the right candidate. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and file immigration petitions, applications, motions, briefs, and supporting documentation with USCIS and EOIR. Handle family-based immigration matters, including adjustment of status, consular processing, petitions for relatives, waivers, naturalization, and related applications. Assist with humanitarian immigration matters, including asylum, VAWA, U visas, T visas, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and other forms of humanitarian relief. Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, including master calendar hearings, individual hearings, bond proceedings, and motions practice. Prepare and review motions to reopen, motions to terminate, motions to continue, applications for relief from removal, and appellate filings. Represent clients at USCIS interviews, including marriage-based adjustment interviews, naturalization interviews, asylum interviews, and other agency appointments. Prepare and review guardianship petitions and Special Immigrant Juvenile findings before Connecticut Probate Courts. Attend court hearings and agency appointments in multiple cities throughout Connecticut. Most appearances will take place in Hartford, where the local Immigration Court and USCIS Field Office are located. Conduct legal research regarding immigration statutes, regulations, agency guidance, and relevant case law. Develop case strategies based on each client's immigration history, family circumstances, eligibility for relief, and procedural posture. Review work prepared by paralegals and legal assistants for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with filing requirements. Communicate with clients regarding case strategy, required evidence, deadlines, risks, and developments in their matters. Maintain accurate case notes, deadlines, and records using the firm's case management system. Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure cases are prepared and filed efficiently. Qualifications J.D or L.L.M. degree from an accredited law school. Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state or jurisdiction. Fluency in either Spanish or Portuguese is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, hearings, and client communications. Ability and willingness to travel to courts and immigration offices throughout Connecticut. Professional judgment, reliability, and a commitment to ethical client representation. Immigration law experience is preferred but not required. Experience with USCIS filings, removal defense, Immigration Court proceedings, or Connecticut Probate Court matters is a plus. Familiarity with immigration case management software, legal research platforms, and electronic filing systems is also beneficial. Position Details Part-time or full-time opportunities are available. This is primarily an in-office position based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Court attendance and travel within Connecticut are required. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and schedule.
