Job Description

We are looking for an Attorney/Lawyer to join a small, collaborative legal team in Connecticut on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This opportunity is well suited for a licensed attorney who can support active litigation matters through strong legal writing, case organization, and trial preparation. The role offers meaningful exposure to municipal law, insurance subrogation, and civil litigation while contributing to a busy practice with an existing caseload.
Responsibilities:
Support managing partners in advancing litigation matters from initial case development through pre-trial preparation. Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with attention to accuracy, deadlines, and procedural requirements. Manage discovery activities, including drafting requests and responses, organizing productions, and reviewing case materials. Assist with trial readiness by coordinating exhibits, summarizing evidence, preparing witness materials, and handling related court preparation tasks. Provide courtroom support as needed, including serving in a second-chair capacity during hearings or trial proceedings. Track billable time consistently and maintain organized case records using legal practice management tools such as Clio. Help address outstanding casework by prioritizing assignments and moving backlog matters forward efficiently. Communicate clearly with attorneys, court personnel, and other parties while contributing to a team-oriented office environment. Active license to practice law in good standing. Experience in civil litigation, with the ability to support contested matters effectively. Demonstrated skill in drafting motions, briefs, and other litigation-related filings. Working knowledge of discovery procedures, document review, and case preparation practices. Some courtroom exposure, including familiarity with hearings, trial preparation, or second-chair support. Strong organizational abilities with careful attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities. Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with solid typing proficiency. Familiarity with recording billable time and using legal case management software is preferred.
