This position is primarily focused on legal drafting, research, document review, and the preparation of sophisticated estate planning documents, including trusts, business entities, and related documents. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer who enjoys detailed legal work and takes pride in producing accurate, polished documents. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to understand how individual provisions work together within an estate plan are essential. Communication with the client is key. Strong communication skills are required as ideal candidate will need to ensure client deadlines are met, and will need to communicate with clients as to the status of their files, answer legal questions, and coordinate with other professionals to ensure the client's estate planning objectives are met. The associate will work closely with experienced estate planning attorneys and professional staff and will receive meaningful training and feedback. As the attorney develops knowledge, judgment, and familiarity with the firm's drafting standards, the scope and responsibility of the position will expand. Responsibilities Draft wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, deeds, assignments, and related estate planning documents Prepare amendments, restatements, trust modifications, and other estate planning documents based on attorney direction and client planning objectives Review estate planning documents for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with applicable Florida law Analyze existing estate planning documents and identify drafting issues, inconsistencies, or provisions requiring further review Conduct legal research involving estate planning, trusts, probate, taxation, homestead, asset protection, and related matters Prepare written legal analysis and research memoranda when needed Assist with the preparation of probate and trust administration documents Review asset information, beneficiary structures, deeds, and related materials to assist in implementing estate plans Revise documents based on attorney review and feedback Take responsibility for assigned matters, including follow up, deadlines, outstanding information, and moving files toward completion Maintain organized files and effectively manage multiple drafting assignments and deadlines Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the estate planning team Qualifications Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Member in good standing of The Florida Bar, or eligible for admission in Florida Exceptional legal writing and drafting skills Strong legal research and analytical ability Excellent grammar, proofreading, and document review skills Exceptional attention to detail Ability to understand complex documents, identify inconsistencies, and recognize issues requiring further analysis Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines Ability to accept feedback and incorporate revisions carefully and efficiently Sound professional judgment, initiative, and a willingness to learn Prior estate planning, probate, trust, tax, or transactional experience is preferred, but strong drafting ability, analytical skills, and an interest in estate planning are more important About the Position This is a great opportunity for an attorney who enjoys detail oriented legal work and wants to develop a strong estate planning practice.
