Job Description

Job Overview A well-established boutique law firm in the western suburbs of Chicago is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its sophisticated commercial property tax and real estate incentives practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to develop expertise in a highly specialized practice while working directly with experienced attorneys and sophisticated commercial clients. The successful candidate will receive substantial training and mentorship and will assume increasing responsibility as their experience develops. Prior property tax experience is not required. We are committed to training the right candidate. This is an in-person position because of the collaborative nature of the practice and the firm's emphasis on hands-on training and professional development. Responsibilities Assist in representing commercial property owners in property tax appeals throughout Illinois. Work on administrative appeals, property tax litigation, and related proceedings. Prepare petitions, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement documents, and other legal materials. Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses. Review appraisal reports, leases, rent rolls, financial information, and other valuation-related materials. Assist with commercial real estate tax incentive matters. Participate in client meetings, hearings, negotiations, and strategic discussions. Work closely with senior attorneys, analysts, and professional staff on complex commercial matters. Utilize technology and AI tools to enhance financial analysis, efficiency, and client service. Draft and review legal documents including briefs, motions, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and clarity Prepare for trial by organizing evidence, developing case strategies, and assisting with trial preparation activities Represent clients in court, negotiations, and hearings with confidence and professionalism Manage legal case files efficiently using case management systems to ensure timely updates and compliance Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates on case progress and gather necessary information Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in Illinois is required Strong legal writing, analytical, and communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability. Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines. Collaborative attitude and strong professional judgment. Preferred Approximately 1-4 years of legal experience. Experience in litigation, commercial real estate, administrative law, tax, or another related practice area. Interest in commercial real estate, valuation, taxation, and business issues. Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn a specialized area of law. Pay:
$100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
