We are seeking a senior, specialized contract attorney to lead strategy and execution on high-stakes, contested probate and trust litigation matters. If you have handled hundreds of cases, possess ironclad legal judgment, and can drop into complex litigation to steer it decisively toward victory, we want to partner with you.

About the Engagement As an independent contractor, you will take the lead on complex, high-stakes probate and trust litigation matters. You will serve as the lead strategist and fractional courtroom champion for our heavy-litigation files. While you won't be managing the day-to-day HR of the firm, you will act as the "lead architect" on these cases, guiding junior attorneys and support staff on execution. Accuracy, high-level writing, and decisive follow-through are non-negotiable.
Who You Are A Master Litigator:
You have deep, specialized probate expertise and can navigate tense, high-stakes family dynamics with absolute precision.
An Efficient Operator:
You don't need hand-holding. You drop into complex files, diagnose the core legal issues instantly, and outline the winning strategy.
A Strategic Director:
You enjoy coaching junior team members on case strategy without the burden of being their direct HR manager.
Ultra-Reliable:
You deliver rapid, accurate, high-level work that stands up to the highest courtroom scrutiny. Requirements (Non-Negotiable) Active, unrestricted license to practice law in Illinois. 10+ years of dedicated probate and trust litigation experience. 300+ probate cases handled from inception through resolution. Extensive, proven experience with high-stakes motion practice, contested hearings, and trials. Must carry your own Professional Liability (Malpractice) Insurance. Excellent legal writing, research, and courtroom advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities Drive Litigation Strategy:
Oversee and direct the lifecycle of complex, contested probate and trust cases.
Courtroom Advocacy:
Lead high-profile hearings, depositions, and trials.
Case Mentorship:
Guide and direct junior associates and paralegals on tactical execution and legal research for your assigned cases.
Quality Control:
Review critical pleadings and motions to ensure they meet elite standards.
