Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished Managing Attorney to lead a sophisticated bankruptcy, debt restructuring, and business advisory practice serving clients throughout Iowa. This role combines hands-on legal work with strategic leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to oversee attorneys and staff, drive operational excellence, and help shape the continued growth of a highly specialized practice.

The ideal candidate brings strong legal judgment, a client-centered approach, and experience guiding clients through complex financial and business challenges. This attorney will play a key role in mentoring team members, developing client relationships, and contributing to the firm's long-term vision while maintaining an active caseload involving restructuring, insolvency, and related commercial matters.

This opportunity is well suited for a leader who enjoys building teams, improving processes, and helping clients achieve successful outcomes in high-stakes situations.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with firm leadership to set strategic priorities, support practice expansion, and strengthen overall performance.
  • Direct the daily work of attorneys, paralegals, and administrative team members to maintain excellent legal service and responsiveness.
  • Counsel businesses and individuals on bankruptcy, insolvency, restructuring, and related commercial matters.
  • Create and execute legal approaches for complex financial disputes, reorganizations, and distressed business situations.
  • Prepare, review, and manage petitions, motions, agreements, pleadings, and other critical legal filings.
  • Advocate for clients in court appearances, negotiations, mediations, and other formal proceedings.
  • Meet with prospective and existing clients to assess legal needs, evaluate matters, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and career development efforts across the legal team.
  • Improve workflows, technology usage, and operational processes to enhance efficiency and client experience.
