Job Description

⁠​‌‌​​​‌​​​‌‌‌​‌​​​‌‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​‌‌​​‌‌‌​​‌⁠ The General Counsel advises the General Manager and the Casino's departments on legal issues pertaining to the various gaming regulations and other matters of contract oversight and employment issues. The General Counsel protects the Casino & Resort from adverse legal consequences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Researches gaming law, tribal ordinances, statutes, and codes. Prepares and reviews contracts and other legal documents. Monitors and advises Casino on changes in gaming legislation. Reviews Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) Reviews policies and procedural manuals. Attends meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Required Law degree with strong academic credentials and five to eight years post law school experience. 2 years of experience in casino/tribal government law Licensed to practice law Preferred Field of study in Indian Law with an emphasis on gaming Advanced knowledge of gaming law Substantial relevant experience in the gaming industry Superior oral and written communication skills Experience conducting legal research Ability to maintain poise under pressure Professional work ethics, manner, and appearance Excellent judgment/decision-making skills Ability to work independently Computer skills to include Windows™ applications for word processing, e-mail, internet. Previous experience working with a tribal organization is desirable
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino Exert force and/or lifts or carries objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally Must have a sense of urgency and keep up with fast paced business practices Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations and respond to visual and aural cues Native American Preference Exercised Prairie Band Casino & Resort reserves the right to make changes to the above job descriptions whenever necessary. $129,376 USD per year
