Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled General Counsel to lead our legal department and serve as a trusted advisor across all facets of our organization. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive legal guidance on a wide array of issues including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, personal injury law, employment law, and general & commercial litigation. Lead contract drafting, review, negotiation, and management to ensure clarity, enforceability, and alignment with organizational goals. Oversee all aspects of litigation management including trial preparation, court depositions, legal motions, and courtroom advocacy. Conduct thorough legal research utilizing tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay current on statutory changes and procedural laws affecting the organization. Manage legal case files with meticulous attention to detail using effective case management systems; coordinate with external counsel when necessary. Develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, tribal regulations, and industry standards. Advise executive leadership on risk mitigation strategies related to employment law cases, personal injury claims, statutory legal research, and other legal matters impacting the organization's operations. Represent the organization in negotiations with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes. Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and other correspondence with precision and clarity. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the bar in relevant jurisdictions. Extensive experience in legal practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law (including compliance), workers' compensation law, tribal law & regulations, patent law (including patent applications), personal injury case experience (including litigation), employment law (including employment disputes), general & commercial litigation. Proven track record in contract drafting and negotiation along with trial preparation skills. Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw; strong understanding of procedural laws. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards. Excellent written communication skills for drafting clear legal documents and reports; strong verbal advocacy skills for court depositions and negotiations. Experience in handling statutory legal research and providing strategic legal counsel at senior levels of an organization. Familiarity with court depositions procedures; personal injury case experience preferred. Ability to navigate employment-related issues effectively; experience in employment law case management is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with experience managing a busy legal office environment; familiarity with legal case management systems is a plus.
