Job Description The Business Unit General Counsel, Windows & Doors will serve as the dedicated legal business partner for the Windows & Doors BU. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, this role will provide strategic legal counsel and support across all aspects of the business unit's operations, from product development and manufacturing to sales and distribution. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify legal risks, develop solutions, and ensure compliance while enabling business growth. Qualifications
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Business Partnership & Strategy Serve as the primary legal counsel and trusted advisor for assigned business unit leadership team Partner with business leaders to understand strategic objectives and provide proactive legal guidance Participate in business unit strategic planning sessions and provide legal risk assessments Support merger and acquisition activities, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships Advise on corporate governance matters affecting the business unit Commercial & Transactional Support Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including supply agreements, distribution contracts, manufacturing agreements, and licensing deals Manage customer and vendor contract portfolios, ensuring favorable terms and risk mitigation Support sales teams with contract negotiations and deal structuring Advise on pricing strategies, terms and conditions, and commercial risk management Handle contract disputes and claims management Regulatory & Compliance Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations affecting commercial building products, including antitrust policies Monitor evolving regulatory landscape and assess impact on business operations Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures Deliver legal and compliance training programs for business unit leadership and employees, including antitrust, ethics, and contract management Support environmental, health, and safety legal requirements Advise on trade compliance, tariff impacts on materials sourcing, and import/export regulatory requirements Product & Intellectual Property Advise on product development, launch strategies, and lifecycle management Support intellectual property protection including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets Review marketing materials and product communications for legal compliance Handle product liability matters, construction defect litigation, and insurance warranty claims, including coordination with risk management and outside counsel Operational Legal Support Support real estate transactions including facility leases and acquisitions Advise on supply chain and logistics legal issues Manage litigation matters and work with outside counsel as needed Manage the business unit's legal budget and outside counsel relationships, including matter staffing, fee arrangements, and performance evaluation Additional InformationWHAT YOU'LL NEED
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Licensed to practice law Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 4 years supporting a business unit preferred Experience in manufacturing, industrial products, or construction/building materials industry preferred Background in commercial law, contracts, litigation/claims and regulatory compliance Experience managing outside counsel relationships and legal budgetsLEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
