Job Description

Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP is seeking experienced attorneys to join our Binghamton, NY office. Candidates with at least three years of relevant legal experience are preferred, although attorneys with other levels of experience will be considered. We welcome candidates with a general practice background or experience in one or more of the following areas: Business and corporate law Real estate Trusts and estates Litigation Labor and employment law Responsibilities Responsibilities will vary by practice area and may include: Advising and representing clients on a broad range of practice-specific legal matters. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements, pleadings, transactional and closing documents, estate-planning documents, and other legal instruments. Conducting legal research and preparing clear, practical written analyses. Communicating regularly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, government agencies, and other parties. Managing matters and deadlines with appropriate attorney and staff support. Collaborating with attorneys and professionals across the firm's offices and practice groups. Traveling to branch offices, courts, client locations, or other sites as client and business needs require.
Qualifications Successful candidates should possess:
Admission to practice law in New York State, or eligibility for admission on motion with the ability to obtain admission promptly. At least three years of relevant legal experience preferred; other experience levels may be considered. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and problem-solving abilities. Sound professional judgment and careful attention to detail. The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and remain organized. The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team. Strong client-service and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other standard legal and business technology. The Opportunity This position provides substantial client contact and the opportunity to assume meaningful responsibility for legal matters. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience while working in a collaborative, sophisticated, and team-oriented law firm environment. The anticipated base salary range is $90,000 to $130,000 annually. The salary offered will depend on relevant experience, qualifications, practice-area needs, and other bona fide factors. Candidates with an existing book of business may also be considered for additional incentive-based compensation or other mutually agreeable compensation arrangements.
