What You'll Be Doing Litigating civil rights, constitutional, and government-liability matters in state and federal court Defending law enforcement agencies and officers, and/or representing public entities in tort and civil litigation Running or supporting discovery, motion practice, and depositions Drafting motions, briefs, and research memoranda Participating in mediations, settlement talks, and trial prep Working directly with clients — law enforcement, government agencies, insurers, or other parties Contributing to litigation strategy, from case assessment through resolution What You Need 2-6 years of civil litigation experience (specific range depends on role level) Active California Bar membership, good standing Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills Deposition and motion practice experience Ability to manage matters independently while working within a team Nice to Have — any of the following Civil rights or Section 1983 litigation Constitutional law Law enforcement defense Public agency or government tort liability Personal injury litigation Complex civil litigation through mediation, settlement, or trial Comp & Benefits $150K-$205K base, depending on role and experience Performance + billable-hour bonuses Remote flexibility or hybrid (Oakland — 2 days/week), depending on position Strong health insurance 401(k) with partial match
