This is not a generalist position or a flexible side role. We need an attorney with meaningful, hands-on federal litigation experience who can take ownership of legal matters, communicate with authority, and move cases forward without constant oversight. The attorney will work closely with our Founder and CEO, Attorney Ashley Kirkwood. The ideal candidate is actively licensed in Georgia, has federal IP litigation experience, and is also licensed in California or admitted to a California federal district court. Key Responsibilities Support, manage, and help develop strategy for federal intellectual-property and related commercial litigation. Serve as lead counsel, second chair, supporting counsel, or of counsel when appropriate. Draft and file complaints, answers, motions, briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other federal-court documents. Manage discovery, document review, depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. Conduct legal research and provide clear, practical recommendations. Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, local counsel, experts, and other stakeholders. Maintain litigation calendars and ensure court deadlines, discovery obligations, and filing requirements are met. Handle or support matters involving trademarks, copyrights, licensing, infringement, brand protection, and commercial disputes. Conduct trademark searches and advise clients regarding clearance, registration, enforcement, and portfolio strategy. Prepare federal trademark applications and respond to USPTO office actions. Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, licensing agreements, service agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and settlement documents. Supervise or coordinate work performed by paralegals, legal assistants, and outside counsel. Participate in client consultations, educational webinars, speaking engagements, and other business-development activities as needed. Required Qualifications Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Active Georgia Bar membership in good standing. Substantive, hands-on federal intellectual-property litigation experience. Experience personally drafting federal complaints, motions, briefs, discovery, or other substantive court filings. Experience with litigation strategy, case management, discovery, and hearing or trial preparation. Strong legal research, writing, analysis, and oral-advocacy skills. Ability to independently manage deadlines and move matters forward. Strong client-facing presence and the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and confidently. Sound judgment, responsiveness, professionalism, and consistent follow-through. Full-time availability without another full-time position or outside practice that would interfere with performance. Strongly Preferred Active California Bar membership in good standing. Admission to one or more California federal district courts. Experience serving as lead counsel, second chair, or of counsel in federal IP litigation. Experience with depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, or trials. Hands-on trademark prosecution experience, including USPTO applications and office-action responses. Experience with trademark infringement, enforcement, licensing, TTAB proceedings, or portfolio management. Experience supervising paralegals or legal-support professionals. Experience advising entrepreneurs, founders, executives, or growing companies. Client-intake, client-conversion, or law-firm business-development experience.
