Our firm is seeking a talented and motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing Public Entity Defense practice group. In this fully remote role, you will manage a dedicated caseload of 25 to 30 files from inception through settlement or trial. You will defend municipalities, school districts, and religious organizations against high-stakes civil claims, including premises liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and general tort litigation.

Key Responsibilities Case Management:

Handle 25-30 public entity defense cases from initial assignment through resolution, mediation, or trial.

Litigation Strategy:

Draft pleadings, motions, summary judgment briefs, and comprehensive evaluation reports for clients and insurance carriers.

Discovery & Depositions:

Conduct extensive discovery, including taking and defending depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and experts.

Court Appearances:

Represent clients remotely (and occasionally in person if required by local courts) at hearings, status conferences, and oral arguments.

Client & Carrier Relations:

Maintain regular, clear communication with risk managers, school boards, municipal leaders, and insurance claims adjusters.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

License:

Active, good-standing license to practice law in the state of [Insert State].

Experience:

1 to 8 years of civil litigation experience as a practicing attorney.

Deposition Skills:

Proven experience taking and defending depositions independently.

Core Competencies:

Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills.

Autonomy:

Highly organized with the ability to manage a remote caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

Prior experience in public entity defense, municipal law, or insurance defense. Familiarity with governmental immunities, tort claims acts, and civil rights defense.

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive Base Pay:

$150,000 to $195,000 regular salary.

Attainable Bonuses:

$5,000 automatic bonus at 1,850 hours + $70/hr for every hour over the baseline.
