Criminal Defense Attorney! Do you want to help people put their lives back together after their lives have been turned upside down by an arrest? We are an entrepreneurial Criminal Defense & Personal Injury firm that is on track for aggressive growth and we need an experienced attorney to join our team and work directly with the owners to support the team and help our clients. We want to be known for helping our clients go from setback to comeback with a team behind them that really cared and fought for them. We are growing fast, and we need an attorney who can hit the ground running. This position will be responsible for important work, including: Manage an assigned caseload of misdemeanor and felony criminal matters from intake through final disposition. Meet and communicate regularly with clients regarding charges, case strategy, court settings, plea offers, and case status. Review and analyze police reports, body-camera footage, dash-camera footage, witness statements, photographs, laboratory reports, criminal histories, etc. Identify factual, constitutional, evidentiary, and procedural defenses and develop an effective defense strategy for each case. Appear in municipal, county, district and federal courts throughout the DFW and surrounding areas for arraignments, announcement settings, pretrial conferences, plea hearings, bond hearings, motion hearings, revocation proceedings, and trials. Negotiate with prosecutors regarding dismissals, reductions, plea agreements, diversion programs, sentencing recommendations, and other favorable resolutions. Conduct legal research involving the Texas Penal Code, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Texas Rules of Evidence, constitutional law, and applicable Texas and federal case law. Draft and argue motions to suppress, motions in limine, discovery motions, bond motions, continuances, pretrial motions, and other pleadings necessary to protect clients' rights. Prepare cases for bench and jury trials, including witness preparation, exhibit preparation, motions practice, voir dire, opening statements, direct and cross-examination, evidentiary objections, and closing arguments. Conduct jail visits and communicate with incarcerated clients when necessary. Investigate cases and work with investigators, experts, witnesses, law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, probation officers, and court personnel as appropriate. Evaluate collateral consequences of criminal charges and proposed resolutions and communicate those consequences to clients when appropriate. Maintain complete and accurate case notes, deadlines, court settings, client communications, plea offers, and case dispositions in the firm's case-management system. Ensure that all court appearances, filing deadlines, discovery deadlines, and other case-related deadlines are timely handled. Maintain consistent communication with clients and provide a high level of responsiveness and customer service throughout the representation. Work closely with paralegals, legal assistants, intake personnel, and other attorneys to ensure cases progress efficiently. Participate in case-review meetings and collaborate with senior attorneys regarding complex cases and trial strategy. Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, ethics, and client advocacy. Assist with after-hours or emergency criminal matters when reasonably necessary. Take ownership of assigned cases and be accountable for moving cases toward the best reasonably obtainable result for the client. We love to help people learn and grow. But we don't have the time for that right now. We need an attorney with experience in criminal defense law. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand holding by their managing attorney. This is a full-time job where you are expected to be able to manage a caseload in a fast-paced environment. This job is in-office for 40 hours per week. During the first 90 days of employment, the pay will be a $100,000.00. There is an opportunity for bonus compensation for those who can demonstrate their profitability.
