Pathway to Becoming a Certified Non Attorney Representative Build a meaningful career helping individuals with disabilities obtain the benefits they deserve. Merit Disability is a boutique Social Security Disability law firm based in Yakima, Washington, representing individuals throughout the state of Washington.
Our mission is simple:
to provide exceptional advocacy for people whose physical or mental disabilities prevent them from working. We are seeking an intelligent, motivated, and compassionate individual with a bachelor's degree who wants to develop a long term career in disability advocacy. Prior experience in Social Security Disability law is not required. We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, excellent writing ability, sound judgment, and a genuine desire to help others. This is not simply an administrative position. Through comprehensive training and mentorship, you will learn every aspect of representing Social Security Disability claimants. If you demonstrate the knowledge, judgment, and advocacy skills necessary for the role, you will have the opportunity to become a Certified Non Attorney Representative and represent clients before Social Security Administrative Law Judges. If you enjoy solving complex problems, writing persuasively, learning challenging legal and medical concepts, and making a meaningful difference in people's lives, we would like to hear from you. Responsibilities As your training progresses, your responsibilities may include: Conduct consultations with prospective clients Assist clients in filing Social Security Disability and SSI applications and appeals Review and analyze medical records and other evidence Prepare clients for hearings before Administrative Law Judges Develop hearing strategies and organize supporting evidence Draft post hearing briefs, On the Record requests, dire need requests, responses to Consultative Examination reports, and other written submissions to the Social Security Administration Advocate for clients before Administrative Law Judges after certification Work closely with attorneys and staff to provide outstanding representation and client service
Qualifications Required:
