The Novelis Bay Minette team is seeking an Asset Protection Technician to join the Environmental Health and Safety function. This role is responsible for providing emergency services working within the Incident Command System and performing search and rescue operations. Responsibilities Operate emergency response vehicles Select proper firefighting tools and equipment to control and extinguish fires Use appropriate safety equipment, to mitigate hazardous materials incidents Perform extrication operations as needed Perform Confined Space and Rope rescue operations, preplans, and audits Perform inspections and maintenance of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, exit lights and other safety equipment Deliver assigned training sessions to fellow responders Commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment Perform after hours drug screens (post incident and reasonable suspicion) Manage fire system impairments, resetting fire alarm systems, resetting sprinkler systems and special hazard systems (CO2) Support mills during outages and breakdowns outside of normal hours Assist with all aspects of projects including commissioning phase Work with contractors on major repairs to alarm/fire systems as to ensure work is completed in a timely manner Perform fire prevention audits throughout plant and participate in annual required fire drills Minimum qualifications High School Diploma or GED Certificate Active/current Driver's License Industrial Mechanical Experience Must obtain NFPA 25 training/certification Basic knowledge of NFPA 72 Fire alarm/hazard detection systems Preferred qualifications HazMat Technician High Angle/Rope Rescue Confined Space Rescue NFPA 72 training or equivalent training OSHA 10, 20, or 511 Pro-Board Fire Fighter I and II certification or industry equivalent Pro-Board Apparatus Operator and Aerial One year of industrial Fire Fighter or three years of municipal Fire Fighter experience minimum Current Nationally Registered or State of Alabama EMT-Basic or above
