Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

Please do not call to inquire about this position. This position supports the delivery of quality legal services to clients by providing secretarial and administrative assistance to attorneys, performing complex and specialized secretarial and clerical tasks, and working collaboratively and cooperative with others. Responsibilities Perform secretarial and clerical/administrative duties for the attorney and the paralegals: Maintain electronic calendar for law firm members. Order supplies. Enter time electronically. Create and maintain files and keep records and prepare reports as requested, in accordance with firm procedures. Respond to and generate email messages. Prepare documents for filing with various agencies; file such documents and follow through as necessary. Deliver documents to clients, courts and various agencies. Perform other duties as required.

Document management system, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

Technical Skills:
Possess basic PC skills; ability to use phone system, copier, scanner, fax, and printer. Maintain exceptional customer service attitude and demeanor at all times. Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and legal processes. Accurate typing at a net speed of 65+ wpm (shorthand/speedwriting a plus). Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Document Management System, Time Entry, e-Filing and database software. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; demonstrated understanding of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to work effectively and proactively within a team environment. Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently and to meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Initiative, flexibility, resiliency, and a willingness to adapt to change. Working Conditions The following describes general working conditions and requirements of the job: Regularly require long periods of sitting and using computer equipment. Frequently require long periods of talking on the telephone. Occasional periods of standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. May require that boxes and other items, weighing up to 30 pounds, be picked up and moved. Must have computer skills to meet standards of accuracy and speed set by this law firm. Basic ability in math and report keeping needed. The ideal candidate will have a team-spirit attitude, be able to meet and communicate with people pleasantly and represent the law office in an efficient, professional manner. Applicant must present himself/herself in a professional manner and dress accordingly.
