Job Description

We are seeking an organized, dependable, personable, and compassionate Part-Time Legal Assistant to handle critical client communications and provide administrative support to our paralegal team and cover our front desk periodically. In this dual function role, you will serve as a primary line of communication for our clients—managing high-volume client callbacks , checking in on updates, and keeping them informed on their case status. You will also gain hands-on experience of managing timelines, gathering documents, and handling case files.
Key Responsibilities Client Communication & Reception:
Conductproactiveclientcallbacks to schedule clients with staff to review/answer administrative questions and gather necessary information for the team. Contact existing clients regularly to check in on recent changes. Screen incoming inquiries from potential new clients and assist with initial Social Security disability intake forms. Regular communications with Social Security Administration. Serve as the coverage for front desk when needed: welcome clients, answer incoming phone lines, and route calls.
Paralegal & Case Administration Support:
Assist paralegals in gathering, organizing, and uploading medical records, doctor statements, and earnings histories. Scan, index, filing, and organize digital case documents within our case management system.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
High school diploma required; college coursework, legal training, or paralegal certificate in progress is a plus.
Experience:
1+ years of general office, customer service, or high-volume phone experience required. Prior experience in a medical office, law firm, or Social Security practice is a major plus.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional verbal communication and phone etiquette. High level of empathy, patience, and active listening skills suitable for working with disabled or elderly clients.
Tech Savvy:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office hardware; experience with legal software is helpful but not required.
Detail-Oriented:
Ability to accurately log detailed notes in file histories immediately following client callbacks.
Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
