Join a wills, trusts, and estates firm with a board-certified Managing Attorney with over 30 years of experience.
Minimum education:
Associate Degree. Relevant job experience also applicable.
General Responsibilities:
Assist the Managing Attorney, who serves as Personal Representative, Curator, or Trustee. Assist in carrying out the Fiduciary's duties in the above referenced capacities.
Tasks include:
1) Filing standard probate pleadings 2) Responsibility for marshaling assets eg: Closing banks accounts, selling stock or bond certificates. Will require reviewing decedent's financial statements to determine if assets exist and where the assets are located.
The assets may be:
A) Owned by the decedent. B) Owned by the decedent's trust or another trust. C) Beneficiary designated funds, payable upon death Assist the Managing Attorney with duties of selling Real Estate property.
Duties to include:
1) Mail forwarding of decedent's mail at their home address 2) Utility setup and payment 3) Act as the intermediary with Real Estate Agent regarding both sale and clean out of property in order to get home prepared for Sale. Organize and maintaining electronic client files Tracking probate court deadlines Liaison with beneficiaries, including charitable beneficiaries. Receive fiduciary bank financial statements and submit for Managing Attorney's review and signature. Scan and save to client folder on server once signed. File paper statement to client financial statement binder/folder. Obtain IRS identification numbers for Estates and Trusts via the online IRS portal. Report to in-house Fiduciary Tax Specialist regarding the gathering and collating of necessary tax documents to send to external CPA. Report to in-house Fiduciary Tax Specialist and collaborate in making partial and final distributions to beneficiaries. Report to in-house Fiduciary Tax Specialist and collaborate in preparing inventories and accountings for Estates and Trusts. Prepare and draft all probate and trust administration pleadings with Attorney's direction and review. Manage procedures, tracking deadlines and workflow, emails, letters and phone calls with clients, beneficiaries and creditors. Prepare and assist attorneys for hearings on probate and trust administration matters. Contacting courts to obtain certified copies and transcripts. Familiar with reading complex wills and trust agreements.
General Skills, Certification and Experience Preferences:
Microsoft File Explorer, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat Pro Microsoft One-Drive and SharePoint Familiarity with filing through Florida E-portal Familiarity with Form Builder (preferred but not required) Ability to review and digest financial statements (preferred but not required) Familiarity with recording billable hours using Clio Time & Billing Software Collaborative team skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Exceptional attention to detail Paralegal experience with Estate Administration in Florida required Florida Registered Paralegal certification (preferred but not required) Inquisitive Detail oriented Structured Not afraid of numbers Intrigued by puzzles or challenges that are difficult to solve
