A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

Looking for an experienced Legal Assistant who has excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills to work primarily in the areas of Corporate/Business Law, Real Estate Law, Civil Litigation, and Municipal Law. Minimum of 2 years of legal experience preferred. Aptitude in litigation and general law is essential. Ideally this would require someone who can work independently and is a creative problem-solver who pays attention to details and takes pride in their work. Someone who can handle multiple cases at a time and set tasks and goals to move cases forward. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro, with some knowledge of other programs such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Caret Legal/Zola and Net Documents is ideal but not required as long as you are a quick study and technically savvy to adapt to a new case and document management system. Interacting with clients and colleagues constitutes a significant portion of the job, therefore excellent communication skills and a responsive approach is essential to the job.
Tasks include:
Drafting simple pleadings Calendaring deadlines Gathering, organizing and preparing discovery documents Preparing attorney with relevant documents and pleadings for court appearances/trial Updating client with the status of their case Managing the progression of cases and tasks to be done for each case
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
