Role Description The Paralegal will provide legal support to attorneys across multiple practice areas, including personal injury, family law, business, litigation, appeals and agricultural law. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and organizing legal documents, drafting pleadings and correspondence, conducting legal and factual research, and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness. The role also involves managing case files, maintaining calendars and deadlines, coordinating with clients and court personnel, and assisting attorneys with hearing and trial preparation. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Champaign, IL, requiring regular collaboration with attorneys and staff in the office.
Qualifications Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of Law relevant to civil, family, business, and related practice areas. Candidates should possess strong Legal Document Preparation skills, including drafting pleadings, motions, correspondence, and basic contracts. Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, court staff, and other stakeholders. Candidates should possess solid Research skills, including legal research using online databases and factual investigation. Candidates should possess careful Document Review skills to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court and firm requirements. Additional beneficial qualifications include a paralegal certificate or associate/bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a related field, prior law firm or litigation experience, strong organizational and time-management abilities, proficiency with legal practice management and document management software, and a commitment to ethical, client-focused service.
