Legal Assistant (Contract-to-Hire, Training Provided) Hyatt & Weber, P.A. Learn more about our firm at www.hwlaw.com. Position Overview Hyatt & Weber is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team in Annapolis. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate or early-career professional interested in building a long-term career in the legal field. This position supports attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff across multiple practice areas. Unlike a traditional legal secretary role assigned to a single attorney, this position serves as a shared resource for the firm's legal team and offers exposure to a variety of legal matters and office operations. While prior law office experience is helpful, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities Open and maintain client and matter files Scan, organize, and manage electronic documents Prepare correspondence and basic legal documents Proofread and format documents Schedule meetings, appointments, and conference calls Assist with calendaring deadlines and important dates Communicate professionally with clients, courts, vendors, and government agencies Assist attorneys and paralegals with document preparation and case management File documents through electronic filing systems Maintain accurate records and confidential information Provide general administrative support as needed Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel Excellent organization and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines Professional demeanor and strong work ethic Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or coursework in paralegal studies, business administration, communications, political science, criminal justice, or a related field Prior experience in a law firm, government office, financial institution, medical office, title company, real estate company, or other professional office environment Experience with calendaring, document management, records administration, or client communications Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and other office technology platforms Compensation $22.00 - $28.00 per hour , based on qualifications and experience. Contract-to-Hire Opportunity This position is expected to begin as a three-month contract-to-hire assignment . Candidates who successfully complete the introductory period and demonstrate strong performance may be considered for permanent employment and participation in the firm's employee benefits programs. Schedule Full-time Monday through Friday 8-hour day shift No weekends Work Location This is an in-office position located in Annapolis, Maryland.
