Paralegal - Real Estate Practice Group - Portland, ME The Real Estate paralegal position in our Portland, ME office is a multifaceted job working with four attorneys. This position provides essential support in real estate transactions and assists with various residential and commercial real estate tasks. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong transactional paralegal skills who is interested in expanding their expertise in a variety of real estate projects. The position requires five days in the office, Monday-Friday. Position Summary and Responsibilities Draft deeds and loan documents Schedule closings Monitor calendars to ensure deadlines are met Obtain corporate documents from the Secretary of State's office Order outside diligence searches and title reports Contact tax collector/assessor offices regarding parcel and tax information Use title company website to locate title policies Use Registry of Deeds website to find recorded documents Conduct title searches and updates File UCCs Obtain missing discharges and assignments and other corrective title matters from lenders or pertinent parties Draft closing documents, or review if prepared by other parties Assemble closing binders and any other additional tasks in connection with the purchase, sale and financing of commercial real estate; and assist with post-closing matters including preparing title policies, title endorsements, attention to recording of documents, and preparation and administration of closing binders Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum of three years of experience as a transactional or real estate paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience preferred Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to multitask Must have excellent follow-up capabilities Ability to prioritize and work independently Excellent communication and interpersonal skills To apply, please submit your cover letter and resume to Maria Gaetani at mgaetani@pierceatwood.com.
