Job Description

Job Summary Established Bloomfield Hills family-law practice is seeking an experienced Family Law Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary to join our office on a full-time basis. Family-law experience is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Michigan family-law practice and court procedures and will be able to work independently in a busy legal environment. Responsibilities Supporting the attorney in all aspects of Michigan family-law matters Preparing and formatting pleadings, motions, correspondence and other legal documents E-filing documents with Michigan courts and maintaining electronic case files Managing the attorney's calendar, deadlines, hearings, mediations and appointments Communicating professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel and other professionals Assisting with discovery, subpoenas and other litigation-related matters Maintaining organized and accurate client and case files Monitoring deadlines and assisting with the day-to-day management of a family-law caseload Provide exceptional client service by answering phone calls professionally, managing inquiries, and facilitating effective communication between clients and attorneys. Performing general legal-secretarial and administrative duties as needed Skills Prior family-law experience required Knowledge of Michigan family-law procedures and court practices Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong proofreading and attention to detail Ability to prioritize multiple matters and meet deadlines Professional, dependable and discreet Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a small law office Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and Clio required Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Michigan electronic court-filing systems Experience with other legal technology is a plus

$57,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
