Job Description

Header Overview The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Putnam County, Missouri is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join the office. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of criminal justice, discretion when handling sensitive case materials, no criminal history, and good moral character. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and proficiency in legal research and documentation. The Legal Assistant will provide essential support to the Prosecuting Attorney as the head legal assistant with case management, documentation preperation, and public communication. Responsibilities Assist office in preparing legal documents, including letter, pleadings, and motions. Manage case files and maintain organized document management systems. Perform data entry and maintain accurate records for client files. Review documents for accuracy and completeness; proofread legal documents before submission. Coordinate schedules and manage appointments for the Prosecuting Attorney. Prepare for court hearings by organizing files and ensuring all necessary documentation is available. Communicate with victims and their families regarding case updates and gather necessary information. Utilize software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe PDF Requirements Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Clerical experience including filing, transcription, data entry, and document review. Professional phone etiquette with strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Employment Information The County of Putnam does not offer benefits to its employees.
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
