Litigation Paralegal -
Family Law, Civil Litigation & Criminal Defense Location:
Huntersville, NC A Huntersville law firm is seeking an organized, dependable paralegal to support attorneys handling domestic and family law, civil litigation, and criminal defense matters. The ideal candidate takes ownership of assignments, communicates professionally, and keeps cases moving. We are looking for someone who can manage competing deadlines, maintain accurate files, and work with clients who may be navigating stressful circumstances. In this role, you will: Assist attorneys with family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and equitable distribution. Support civil litigation and criminal defense cases, including traffic and DWI matters. Prepare and organize pleadings, discovery, correspondence, subpoenas, and other documents for attorney review. Coordinate court filings, service of process, hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings. Track deadlines and maintain accurate calendars and case files. Gather and organize financial records, evidence, discovery responses, and exhibits. Help attorneys prepare for hearings, trials, and mediations. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other professionals. Record time accurately and maintain clear notes of case activity. We are looking for candidates with: Prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant; two or more years of litigation experience preferred. Experience in one or more of the firm's practice areas, with family law experience especially valuable. Familiarity with North Carolina courts and electronic filing procedures. Strong writing, proofreading, organizational, and computer skills. The ability to prioritize assignments, follow through, and identify issues that need an attorney's attention. Professional judgment, discretion, and a commitment to client confidentiality. A calm, respectful approach to client communication and teamwork. Experience with MyCase or similar case management software is a plus. A paralegal certificate or relevant degree is helpful, but practical experience and demonstrated ability are strongly valued. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys across several practice areas and play a meaningful role in preparing cases and supporting clients.
