South Orange, NJ Job Details Part-time | Full-time $25 - $32 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Teamwork Confidential information handling Microsoft Excel Caseload management Legal administrative experience Calendar management Organizational skills Productivity software Legal case management Full Job Description Overview Family run Essex County law firm seeks an experienced NJ landlord-tenant paralegal/legal assistant for immediate hire. Candidate should be familiar with NJ landlord-tenant practice, preparation and filing of eviction complaints, notices, certifications and related pleadings, eCourts/JEDS, calendaring, service requirements and communicating with landlords/property managers. Experience handling a high volume of residential landlord-tenant matters strongly preferred. Position requires someone who can work independently and take an eviction matter from intake through filing and court scheduling. Responsibilities Assist attorneys with case management related to landlord-tenant disputes, evictions, lease agreements, and tenant rights issues. Prepare, review, and organize legal documents, including pleadings, notices, affidavits, and correspondence. Manage client communications via phone and email, providing updates and gathering necessary information for case files. Maintain accurate case files using document management systems such as Clio; ensure timely filing with courts and agencies. Support procedural law compliance by tracking deadlines, court dates, and document submissions. Qualifications Paralegal experience or legal support experience in landlord-tenant law or related fields such as family law or civil litigation. Strong knowledge of procedural law, legal drafting, research techniques, and case management practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe, eCourts, JEDS Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly. Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration. Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
