Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. In this vital role, you will support attorneys specializing in bankruptcy law by managing case files, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with procedural requirements. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will help streamline case workflows and enhance client service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop expertise across various legal disciplines while contributing to impactful client outcomes. Responsibilities Assist attorneys with all phases of bankruptcy proceedings, including chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases, from initial intake through discharge. Prepare and file legal documents such as petitions, schedules, proofs of claim, and motions using case management systems like PCLaw and document management platforms such as iManage. Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other resources to support case strategy and compliance. Manage case files meticulously, ensuring accurate documentation, timely filings, and adherence to procedural law requirements. Coordinate client interviews, gather necessary financial information, and communicate effectively with clients regarding case status updates. Support attorneys with document review, proofreading, and drafting legal correspondence to ensure clarity and professionalism. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while handling multiple cases efficiently through excellent organizational skills. Experience Paralegal experience supporting bankruptcy law is required; familiarity with estate planning, environmental law, UCC law, or general litigation is a plus. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis; experience with PCLaw and iManage is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of procedural law across various practice areas including family law, landlord-tenant law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, civil litigation support, and more. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and internal collaboration. Experience with legal administrative tasks such as filing documents electronically or physically, proofreading legal documents for accuracy, and managing document review processes. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for drafting correspondence and organizing case data.
