Boutique law firm (Criminal Defense, Estate Planning, and Personal Injury) seeks an experienced, highly organized Senior Legal Assistant / Paralegal & Office Manager to play a central role in the operation of our law office. Ideal candidates will possess a great attitude and have substantial experience working in a professional legal environment--and be capable of independently managing responsibilities, anticipating/resolving problems, and ensuring that processes in the office flow smoothly. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys, clients, courts, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, and other professionals. This unique position combines senior legal-assistant responsibilities with responsibility for the day-to-day organization and administration of the office, including staffing.
Primary Responsibilities:
Managing attorney calendars, court appearances, meetings, deadlines, and other important dates; Reviewing incoming court notices, correspondence, emails, and other communications and ensuring that appropriate action is taken; Communicating professionally with clients, courts, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, opposing counsel, witnesses, and other professionals; Assisting attorneys with the preparation, proofreading, formatting, filing, and service of motions, pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents; Filing documents through applicable Utah electronic filing systems; Maintaining accurate, organized, and complete electronic client files; Receiving, organizing, maintaining, and distributing discovery; Monitoring active cases and following up on outstanding tasks; Helping ensure that attorneys receive timely reminders regarding hearings, deadlines, client issues, and other matters requiring attention; Responding appropriately to client telephone calls and emails and ensuring that unresolved client matters receive follow-up; Developing and maintaining effective office procedures and systems; Supervising, coordinating, and assisting in the training of administrative staff when necessary; Helping establish accountability and workflow procedures for office personnel; Identifying problems and bringing them to an attorney's attention before they become urgent.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years of substantial experience working in a law office, court, prosecutor's office, public defender's office, or comparable legal environment; Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certificate; Spanish speaking ability. $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
