This position is responsible for case management, document collection, client communication while ensuring compliance with regulatory rules, procedures, and deadlines. This full-time position reports to a supervising Attorney and is a non-exempt, hourly position, also eligible for bonus. Responsibilities - include, but are not limited to: Gathering medical records, bills, and lien information. Calculating damages and settlement amounts. Preparing settlement demand packages. Communicating with insurance companies and claim adjusters. Negotiating certain settlement-related issues (under attorney supervision). Preparing settlement agreements and release documents. Coordinating disbursement of settlement funds. Resolving medical liens and other claims against settlement proceeds. Support supervising attorney with additional administrative tasks as assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned, and in support of assigned legal team and the Firm. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Detail-oriented, dependable, and adaptable. Proficient understanding of insurance claims and ability to use strong negotiation skills to submit and finalize settlement terms with insurance adjusters. Ability to use financial calculations and accounting to determine acceptable settlement terms. Proficiency in obtaining medical bills and records. Proficient knowledge and use of legal terminology and rules of civil litigation. Proficiency with computer software and Microsoft Office applications, keyboarding, online systems, and standard office technology. Ability to use legal research tools and case management software, including Filevine. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Minimum Qualifications:
Experience 2 years of experience in paralegal work on the side of the plaintiff; or 1 year of experience in an office environment in the performance of administrative or office management, and customer service; with a Legal Assistant Certification or Paralegal Studies degree. Education Paralegal degree or certificate; or Legal Assistant certificate: or High School Diploma, or equivalent. Language Proficiency with the English language. Work Environment This position primarily operates in an office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, scanners, and copiers.
