The Sheboygan County District Attorney's Office is looking for an organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide advanced administrative and legal support to our prosecuting attorneys. This is more than a traditional administrative role—you'll play a critical part in the criminal justice system by ensuring cases are prepared accurately, court deadlines are met, and sensitive legal information is handled with the highest level of professionalism. Comprehensive benefits package FREE access to the InHealth Clinic 15 vacation days, sick leave, and 10 paid holidays Wisconsin Retirement System participation Employee referral program Education discounts Wellness program Quarterly employee recognition awards Opportunities for professional growth and development You'll be an essential member of the prosecution team by: Preparing, proofreading, and processing legal documents for criminal, juvenile, traffic, and related court proceedings Managing attorney calendars, scheduling hearings, and tracking court deadlines Maintaining electronic and paper case files using case management and e-filing systems Coordinating with attorneys, law enforcement, courts, and partner agencies throughout the life of a case Responding to inquiries from the public and criminal justice partners while providing exceptional customer service Maintaining confidential records and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical requirements Assisting with case intake, document preparation, and office operations to keep cases moving efficiently Every day brings new challenges, new cases, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on your community. High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field preferred) Three (3) years of experience in a District Attorney's Office preferred (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail Experience preparing legal or highly confidential documents The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong computer skills, including document management and electronic filing systems Professional judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to work with individuals experiencing stressful situations The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team This position works in a professional office setting with frequent interaction with attorneys, law enforcement agencies, court personnel, partner organizations, and members of the public. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive legal information.
