Entry Level Legal Assistant We're a local boutique financial law firm on Wausau's west side serving clients in central Wisconsin. We help clients file bankruptcy, prepare wills, and settle income and sales tax debt. We also help high-net-worth individuals build asset protection plans and advise businesses. Position Overview We are seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team in Wausau, Wisconsin. In this role, you will provide administrative and case-related support to our attorneys and help keep client matters organized and moving forward. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building a career in the legal field. Prior legal experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided to the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Prepare, proofread, format, and organize correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents Assist attorneys with filing, document management, scheduling, and other administrative tasks Maintain accurate electronic and physical client files Track deadlines, appointments, and case-related tasks Communicate professionally with clients, courts, attorneys, and other parties Gather information from clients and witnesses under attorney direction Conduct basic legal and factual research using available resources Enter and update information in case-management and office systems Assist with special projects and provide general support to the legal team Protect confidential and sensitive client information Qualifications Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in any field Ability to touch type at least 30 words per minute Able to do data entry Strong attention to detail and proofreading ability Excellent organizational and time-management skills Clear and professional written and verbal communication Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Sound judgment and a commitment to confidentiality Ability to work independently and collaboratively Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and general office technology Willingness to learn legal terminology, procedures, and software Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in an office, customer-service, administrative, or legal-support position Familiarity with legal documents, court procedures, case-management software, or legal research tools such as Westlaw Associate degree, paralegal coursework, or comparable education or experience Preferred qualifications are not required. We welcome applicants with transferable skills who are eager to learn.
Compensation and Benefits Starting wage:
