Organization The Hartford Parking Authority (HPA), a quasi-municipal agency of the City of Hartford, which is overseen by an appointed board of directors, leads the operations and maintenance of Hartford's municipal garage, multiple surface parking lots, public library parking, and all of the on-street parking within the City. Position The Patrol Officer I, is a front-line individual support responsible for opening and closing HPA facilities and events, traffic calming at HPA facilities and events, surface lots, providing assistance to HPA event staff, and patrolling all facilities and surface lots for patron issues, questionable activities, and safety concerns. The Patrol Staff is required to answer all pertinent questions related to the parking facility itself or the surrounding area. The Patrol Staff works closely with fellow team members to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained. Part-time, open availability, including mornings, evening and weekend hours. All offers for employment with the Hartford Parking Authority are contingent upon the candidate having successfully completed a criminal background check and clean Motor Vehicle Report. Responsibilities

• Patrol all HPA parking facilities and surface lots daily.
• Open and close facility access as needed.
• Provide presence at key events and assist with traffic flow.
• Follow all safety standards.
• Answer questions concerning parking/enforcement in a courteous, professional, and effective manner, referring questions to the supervisor when applicable.
• Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications
• Parking industry experience is preferred, but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent. Valid State of Connecticut Security Officer permit. Security experience a must.
• Valid driver's license required with clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). Skills
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
• Willingness to be flexible.
• Must be able to work unsupervised.
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the Spanish language is a plus!
