• $25.00 per hour or higher based on relevant experience and qualifications.
• A 37.5-hour regular workweek, generally Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Position Overview The Juvenile Probation Officer provides community-based supervision, intervention, and case-management services to youth involved with the Juvenile Court. The position promotes public safety, monitors compliance with court orders, and supports positive youth development through evidence-based and trauma-informed practices. The officer works closely with youth, families, schools, treatment providers, community partners, and court personnel and may perform limited non-security Deputy Bailiff duties. Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise youth on probation and other court-ordered supervision caseloads in accordance with court policy.
• Complete court-approved screenings and assessments; develop, implement, and monitor individualized case plans.
• Meet with youth and families in the office and conduct home, school, and community visits.
• Monitor compliance, respond to violations, and use graduated interventions and incentives when appropriate.
• Prepare timely, clear, and accurate case notes, reports, recommendations, and court updates.
• Coordinate referrals and collaborate with families, schools, service providers, attorneys, and other justice-system partners.
• Appear in court, provide case information, and support judicial officers during hearings.
• Conduct authorized alcohol and drug screening and complete other duties consistent with the position. Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or a related field.
• Two years of comparable professional experience. Qualifying experience may include paid employment, internships, or other experience demonstrating basic professional workplace skills, including telephone communication, office practices, and professional interaction with others.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to successfully complete a pre-employment motor vehicle record (MVR) review and operate County vehicles.
• Ability to successfully complete required background screening and pre-employment drug testing. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with at-risk or justice-involved youth.
• Knowledge of juvenile court processes and community-based supervision. Skills and Abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, time-management, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to interpret and follow legal, procedural, and confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to apply evidence-based and trauma-informed practices and work effectively with diverse populations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic case-management systems, and basic professional office practices, including business communication, telephone and email etiquette, document preparation, recordkeeping, and scheduling.
• Professional judgment, ethical conduct, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.

Training and On-Call Expectations The employee will receive structured initial training and will not begin required after-hours on-call responsibilities until the employee demonstrates a sufficient understanding of the position and is assigned a caseload. Work Environment and Physical Demands The position involves office, courtroom, vehicle, school, home, and other community settings; frequent local travel; interaction with individuals in stressful or unpredictable circumstances; and extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
