DOE + Full Benefits Package Kinkaid Civil Construction (KCC) is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP), family-run heavy civil construction company specializing in underground wet utilities, earthwork, and roadway infrastructure throughout Arizona and Utah. Safety is the foundation of everything we do, and we're committed to protecting our employees while delivering quality projects for our clients and communities. We are seeking a motivated Safety Engineer to support our field operations by promoting safe work practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping strengthen Kinkaid's safety culture across multiple heavy civil construction projects throughout Arizona. Position Summary The Safety Engineer partners with the Safety Manager, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to implement and maintain Kinkaid Civil Construction's safety program. This role conducts jobsite inspections, assists with employee training, investigates incidents, and supports compliance with OSHA and company safety standards while promoting a proactive safety culture. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and identify potential hazards. Assist in implementing and maintaining company safety policies and procedures. Perform new hire safety orientations and ongoing employee safety training. Lead toolbox talks and participate in daily safety meetings. Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions while documenting findings and corrective actions. Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), excavation safety planning, and site-specific safety plans. Maintain safety records, inspections, certifications, and training documentation. Partner with project teams to identify risks and develop proactive safety solutions. Track corrective actions and verify timely completion. Assist with emergency response planning and safety audits. Travel regularly to project sites throughout the Phoenix Metro area and surrounding Arizona locations. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum 2 years of construction safety experience, preferably in heavy civil construction. Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and Arizona safety regulations. Experience supporting underground wet utility, earthwork, roadway, or infrastructure construction projects. OSHA 30 Certification required (or ability to obtain shortly after hire). Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build positive working relationships with field personnel and project leadership. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Valid Arizona driver's license (or ability to obtain) with an acceptable driving record. Preferred Requirements CHST certification or ability to obtain. OSHA 500 or
OSHA 510
Certification. First Aid/CPR Certification. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Experience with ADOT, municipal, or public infrastructure projects. Experience using electronic safety management software. Knowledge of excavation safety, trench protection systems, and heavy equipment operations.
