Food Safety Operations ManagerLocation:

Tempe, Arizona (Onsite) Role OverviewThe Risk Investigator II will function as a food safety investigator and program manager responsible for driving food safety compliance, incident investigations, audit readiness, and operational risk reduction across multiple sites. This is a highly visible role supporting large-scale operations where protecting customer safety and maintaining regulatory compliance are top priorities. The position involves supporting an on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents. Key ResponsibilitiesInvestigate food safety incidents and perform root cause analysis.



Manage complex escalations and develop comprehensive corrective action plans.



Monitor compliance metrics and key performance indicators to track progress and identify areas for improvement.



Conduct trend analysis of customer complaints and escalation patterns to identify systemic risks.



Partner with site leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive program adherence.



Prepare detailed business review documents and reports for senior leadership.



Support food safety audits and ensure regulatory compliance efforts align with current standards.



Drive accountability and ensure timely resolution of compliance issues across multiple facilities.



Required Qualifications3+ years of experience in food safety and quality management within large-scale retail, manufacturing, grocery, food production, distribution, or fulfillment environments.



Proven experience supporting multiple facilities or regions and influencing stakeholders across a large organization.



Experience managing complex investigations, escalations, and corrective action programs.



Experience interacting with local, state, and federal food safety regulators.



Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including the Code of Federal Regulations, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), and food code standards.



Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel and reporting tools.



Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements and support data-driven decision-making.



Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, or a related scientific discipline.



Ability to travel up to 80% throughout the United States.



Preferred QualificationsExperience in e-commerce, online retail operations, or a similar field.



Experience creating and implementing large-scale programs.



Ability to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision.



Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and compelling narratives for executive audiences.



Master's degree in Food Science or a related field.



Project management experience.



SQF, BRC, or other GFSI-recognized food safety certifications.
