Micro-Cap Solutions is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a well-established architectural millwork and manufacturing company seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve its safety program across manufacturing, field installation, and office operations. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role responsible for building a strong safety culture, reducing operational risk, maintaining regulatory compliance, and partnering closely with operational leaders and employees across the organization. The Role The Safety Manager will oversee the day-to-day execution and continuous improvement of the company's safety program across both manufacturing and construction/jobsite environments. This individual will maintain a strong presence on the shop floor and at active jobsites, lead incident investigations, develop and deliver training, track safety performance, and ensure corrective actions are carried through to completion. The ideal candidate is a practical, hands-on safety professional who can effectively partner with operations while also having the confidence to identify unacceptable risk, address unsafe conditions, and hold teams accountable. Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership & Program Management Develop and execute an annual safety plan focused on reducing hazards, near misses, injuries, and operational risk Maintain a visible safety presence through routine manufacturing-floor and jobsite inspections Develop and maintain JHAs/JSAs, safe work practices, PPE requirements, and safety procedures Maintain required safety programs, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) Establish and coordinate Safety Committee activities, emergency preparedness, drills, and improvement initiatives Incident Investigation & Corrective Action Lead investigations involving injuries, incidents, near misses, property damage, and significant hazards Gather factual information and witness statements and identify root and contributing causes Develop corrective actions, establish ownership and deadlines, and verify completion Maintain an effective process for tracking identified hazards through final resolution Training & Employee Development Develop, coordinate, deliver, and track safety training for manufacturing employees, field installation teams, supervisors, and office staff Monitor toolbox talks and required safety training Coach employees and operational leaders on safe work practices and regulatory requirements Provide day-to-day leadership and development to Safety Department staff where applicable Regulatory Compliance Maintain working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, federal OSHA, EPA, and other applicable requirements Maintain accurate safety and environmental records, including OSHA records, SDS files, training documentation, hazardous/universal waste records, and VOC records Manage lockout/tagout procedures and required employee training Support industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and emergency response programs Manage PPE requirements and inventory Field & Operational Safety Partner with Project Management and Field Operations to ensure work meets client, industry, state, local, and federal safety requirements Work directly with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding jobsite safety Partner with shop, field, project, HR, facilities, and executive leadership to integrate safety into daily operations Escalate significant hazards and recommend corrective actions when necessary Qualifications 5+ years of progressive occupational safety experience, preferably supporting manufacturing and construction/field operations Demonstrated experience managing safety programs and conducting incident/root-cause investigations Strong knowledge of Cal/OSHA and federal OSHA requirements Ability to independently manage priorities, deadlines, documentation, and corrective actions through completion Strong interpersonal, coaching, presentation, and written communication skills Ability to influence operational leaders and employees while constructively addressing unsafe conditions Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills OSHA 30-hour training and current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within the required timeframe Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, or a related field preferred ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST, or similar professional safety certification is a plus California environmental, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene, workers' compensation, and OSHA recordkeeping experience preferred Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus Experience supervising or developing safety professionals is preferred Work Environment This position works across office, manufacturing, and active construction/jobsite environments and requires regular interaction with employees and operational leadership. Regular local travel to project sites is expected, with occasional travel for training, conferences, client locations, or other business needs. $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
