Bellwood, IL (Travel throughout the Chicagoland area) Summary Continental Electrical Construction Company, a FourGen company, is seeking an experienced Area HSE Manager to provide leadership and strategic oversight for health, safety, and environmental programs across multiple construction projects. This role partners closely with Operations, Project Management, and field leadership to ensure compliance with company standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements while driving a proactive safety culture. The Area HSE Manager supports a diverse portfolio of projects including mission critical/data centers, healthcare, commercial, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), tenant improvement, and other high-reliability infrastructure projects. What You'll Do Provide HSE leadership across multiple active construction projects within your assigned region. Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Operations teams to integrate safety into all phases of project execution. Conduct site audits, inspections, and safety observations to identify risks and ensure compliance. Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning. Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Pre-Task Plans, and Safe Work Plans. Support subcontractor safety management and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders. Analyze safety performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Coach and mentor Project HSE Managers, Specialists, field leadership, and craft employees on HSE expectations and best practices. Support environmental compliance programs including stormwater protection, hazardous waste management, spill prevention, battery and lithium-ion storage compliance, and regulatory documentation. Prepare HSE reports, dashboards, and documentation for leadership and clients. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive HSE experience within construction, electrical construction, industrial, energy, or related industries. Minimum of 5 years leading HSE programs across multiple projects or locations. Experience supporting mission critical/data center, commercial, industrial, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, or comparable high-risk construction environments. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, EPA regulations, and industry best practices. Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills. Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management. Ability to analyze performance data and develop continuous improvement initiatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HSE reporting systems. Preferred Qualifications Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Associate Safety Professional (ASP)NFPA 70E
