YellowBird is seeking an experienced Safety Consultant for a full-time, project-based contract opportunity supporting an active, large-scale mission-critical construction project in Minooka, Illinois. This is a great opportunity for an experienced construction safety professional who can build trust with the craft, maintain a strong field presence, and partner with Operations to proactively identify and address risk.

Compensation:

$75/hour as a 1099 independent contractor Approximately 40 hours per week This is a blended independent-contractor rate with no additional overtime premium

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, day shift Typical shift is approximately 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 8-hour shifts No weekend work anticipated

Work Location:

Minooka, Illinois In-person, active construction site

Contract Duration:

ASAP start through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of an extension based on project needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct field safety walks and identify hazards Support pre-task planning and corrective actions Maintain OSHA compliance and safety documentation Lead toolbox talks, site orientations, and field coaching, including Day 1 site orientation and transportation onboarding Investigate incidents and near misses Promote a proactive safety culture Complete required safety documentation and reporting using client-provided technology and equipment

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of construction safety experience CHST certification required (minimum) OSHA 30 or OSHA Trainer certification Must pass drug testing as part of onboarding Strong field presence and ability to communicate effectively with craft professionals and project leadership

Preferred Experience:

Electrical construction Data center construction Mission-critical projects

Independent Contractor Position:

This opportunity is a 1099 independent-contractor engagement. YellowBird does not withhold federal or state taxes. Professionals are responsible for managing their own tax obligations. The $75 hourly compensation is a blended independent-contractor rate for all hours worked. Overtime pay or an additional overtime premium does not apply. YellowBird manages client billing and invoicing and provides occupational accident, professional liability, and hired and non-owned auto insurance coverage during active engagements. Safety staffing engagements are paid biweekly through the YellowBird platform. Professionals are responsible for submitting accurate timecards for each pay period. Payment is processed and released within two business days after the client reviews and approves the submitted timecard.
