Safety Manager Utility-Scale Solar Construction Overview We are seeking 3 experienced Safety Managers to support a large-scale solar construction project in the Peoria, IL area. Responsibilities Lead on-site safety for a multi-contractor solar construction project Promote and enforce a zero-incident safety culture Ensure compliance with OSHA and site safety standards Manage and maintain the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) Conduct safety meetings, inspections, audits, and JHAs Identify and mitigate construction risks across all project phases Lead incident investigations and track safety metrics and OSHA logs Oversee subcontractor compliance and conduct worker safety orientations Verify certifications and enforce proper use of PPE and LOTO procedures Coach field teams and develop strong safety practices across crews Support environmental compliance (SWPPP, erosion control, spill prevention) Monitor site conditions including weather and remote job site risks Essential Skills 3+ years of construction safety experience (large-scale projects preferred) Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards

Work Environment This role is based on a utility-scale solar construction site and operates primarily during the day shift, with typical hours anticipated around 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and flexibility required to be on-site as project needs dictate. The work takes place entirely outdoors in varying weather conditions, with a site trailer available for office tasks, meetings, and documentation. All labor on-site is union labor, and the Safety Manager works closely with union crews and supervision to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. The position involves regular field presence around active construction activities, heavy equipment, and electrical work, requiring appropriate use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peoria, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
