Job Overview Track Tech Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Safety Manager to provide hands-on safety leadership across our railroad operations. The Safety Manager is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, supporting regulatory compliance, developing employees, and ensuring safe work practices are consistently applied in the field. This position requires a leader who is comfortable working alongside field employees, supervisors, and railroad representatives and who understands that effective safety leadership goes beyond policies and paperwork. The successful candidate will have experience in railroad construction, maintenance-of-way, on track safety protection, roadway worker protection, heavy construction, or a closely related industry and will demonstrate the ability to coach, train, influence, and hold employees accountable for safe performance. Responsibilities Provide visible, hands-on safety leadership at railroad projects and field locations. Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard recognition, risk reduction, personal accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular field safety observations, inspections, audits, and jobsite assessments. Identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and operational risks and work with field leadership to implement effective corrective actions. Support compliance with applicable Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), OSHA, customer railroad, and company safety requirements. Support the company's Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) / On-Track Safety program and associated training and field compliance activities. Conduct and assist with employee safety training, qualification, onboarding, refresher training, and field coaching. Review Job Safety Briefings and help ensure employees understand the hazards, controls, responsibilities, and protection associated with their work. Participate in incident, injury, near-miss, property damage, and operational event investigations. Identify root and contributing causes and develop practical corrective actions designed to prevent recurrence. Track corrective actions and follow through with operations until deficiencies are resolved. Assist with the development and continuous improvement of safety policies, procedures, training programs, and field standards. Partner with project managers, supervisors, RWICs, foremen, and employees to integrate safety into daily operations. Support customer and railroad safety audits, meetings, investigations, and compliance activities. Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, training records, and other required compliance documentation. Analyze safety trends and field observations to identify opportunities for improvement before incidents occur. Reinforce company expectations regarding PPE, tools and equipment, vehicles, track protection, lifting, material handling, and other job-specific hazards. Exercise appropriate stop-work authority when an imminent hazard or serious violation is identified. Recognize employees and teams demonstrating strong safety leadership and performance. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of safety experience in railroad, construction, transportation, industrial, utility, or another safety-sensitive environment. Working knowledge of FRA and OSHA regulations and general occupational safety principles. Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective action processes. Experience conducting safety training, field inspections, and employee coaching. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with craft employees, supervisors, management, customers, and railroad representatives. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work in active railroad and construction environments. Ability to work varying schedules when operational needs require nights, weekends, or extended hours. Preferred Qualifications Previous railroad or Maintenance-of-Way experience. Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 214 Roadway Worker Protection requirements. Familiarity with FRA regulations applicable to railroad contractors and roadway workers. Experience with railroad operating rules and On-Track Safety procedures. Experience working with Class I, regional, or short-line railroads. OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry certification. CHST, ASP, CSP, OHST, or similar safety credential. Experience conducting formal incident investigations and root-cause analysis. Experience developing or delivering safety and regulatory training.

Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
