Job Description

Position Summary DG Foods is currently seeking a Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor for its Bastrop, Louisiana facility. This position supports the FSQA department by maintaining accurate product and process documentation while driving compliance with food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. The FSQA Supervisor plays a key leadership role in promoting company quality standards, ensuring program effectiveness, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility. This position reports directly to the FSQA Manager. Essential Job Functions Job duties include, but are not limited to: Provide leadership, guidance, training, and risk management for all food safety and quality programs and systems, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, Preventive Controls, risk assessments, GFSI BRC requirements, USDA PVP programs, Food Defense programs, customer requirements, and third-party audit standards. Ensure all food safety, product quality, and regulatory requirements meet or exceed customer and industry expectations and are effectively implemented, documented, communicated, and followed throughout the facility. Support the development, implementation, maintenance, review, and auditing of
GFSI BRC
programs and all related supporting documentation. Partner with Operations and FSQA personnel to prevent process and product failures through effective food safety and quality systems, employee training, process controls, and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform special assignments including product cuttings, production trials, process evaluations, data collection, root cause analysis, and corrective action development. Participate in operational and pre-operational sanitation inspections to verify effectiveness and compliance with company and regulatory expectations. Assist in investigating food safety, quality, and customer-related concerns and support corrective and preventive action programs. Verify compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company policies through inspections, audits, and direct observation. Review production records, quality data, and food safety documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy. Lead, coach, and develop FSQA team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement. Support internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and assist with follow-up activities. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve quality concerns and improve operational performance. Promote and maintain a culture of food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Qualifications & Competencies Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Poultry Science, Biology, Microbiology, Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in food manufacturing, poultry processing, food safety, quality assurance, or a related production environment required. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Experience managing HACCP and
GFSI BRC
programs preferred. Solid understanding of HACCP principles and prerequisite programs, including GMPs, SSOPs, Preventive Controls, and related food safety systems. Strong leadership and team management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Authorization to work in the United States in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Reliable transportation for regular attendance and travel between DG Foods facilities. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended schedules as operational needs require. Strong aptitude for learning, analyzing, and processing information in a timely and accurate manner. Collaborative approach with a proven track record of working effectively in team'oriented environments. Comfortable working in refrigerated production environments with temperatures as low as 28°F. Proficiency with tablets and mobile devices for paperless FSQA documentation and recordkeeping. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. Physical & Environmental Requirements Regular exposure to cold, wet, and manufacturing environments for extended periods. Frequent work in both production and office environments. Lifting, carrying, and maneuvering materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Extended periods of standing and remaining stationary while performing inspections, audits, and documentation activities. Routine operation of tablets, computers, and other technology resources throughout the workday. Visual acuity necessary for food safety and quality assurance functions, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Sensory awareness sufficient to detect a broad range of smells, odors, and product characteristics during inspections and evaluations. Tactile sensitivity necessary to assess product and process characteristics through touch.
