Overview The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the organization's environmental health and safety (EHS) and facilities programs within a manufacturing environment. This position develops, implements, and continuously improves safety policies, procedures, and facility standards that ensure regulatory compliance, protect employees, minimize operational risk, and support efficient manufacturing operations. This role serves as the company's subject matter expert for OSHA compliance, facility maintenance, risk management, and documentation. The Safety and Facilities Manager is expected to establish and maintain comprehensive written policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), emergency response plans, and preventive maintenance programs that create consistent, safe, and efficient operations across the Salisbury, MD and Turnersville, NJ locations. Duties and responsibilities Safety Leadership Develop, implement, and manage the company's comprehensive safety program in compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations. Create, document, and maintain written safety policies, procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures for all manufacturing operations. Lead the development and administration of required written safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Trucks, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Hot Work, and Emergency Action Plans. Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments throughout the manufacturing facility. Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses using root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with human resources to maintain OSHA logs, safety metrics, incident reports, and regulatory documentation. Coordinate employee safety orientation, annual training, contractor safety programs, and ongoing compliance education. Lead the Safety Committee and promote employee engagement through continuous safety improvement initiatives. Policy and Procedure Development Develop, write, revise, and maintain company safety manuals, environmental policies, facility procedures, and operational SOPs. Standardize manufacturing processes through clear documentation that supports safety, quality, and operational consistency. Maintain document control systems to ensure policies and procedures remain current, approved, and accessible. Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and human resources to document best practices and ensure compliance. Monitor regulatory changes and update company policies accordingly. Facilities Management Manage facility maintenance operations, including building systems, utilities, production support equipment, and grounds. Develop preventive maintenance programs for facility infrastructure and coordinate repairs with internal maintenance staff and outside contractors. Oversee facility improvement projects, equipment installations, renovations, and capital projects while ensuring compliance with safety requirements. Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with fire protection systems, emergency equipment inspections, and environmental permits. Environmental & Regulatory Compliance Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, state environmental regulations, and applicable local requirements. Coordinate waste management, hazardous materials handling, chemical inventory, and environmental reporting. Prepare for and support regulatory inspections and third-party audits. Maintain required permits, certifications, inspection records, and compliance documentation. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Partner with production leadership to identify opportunities for improving workplace safety and operational efficiency. Analyze safety performance metrics and develop corrective action plans. Develop annual safety objectives and facility improvement plans. Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership regarding compliance, incidents, corrective actions, and facility performance. Manage departmental budgets related to safety programs, facility maintenance, and capital improvements.

$90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
