FDRsafety is seeking an experienced Safety Manager for a well-established manufacturing organization in Erie, MI. This position will lead and support plant-level safety and environmental initiatives with a focus on regulatory compliance, employee engagement, risk reduction, training, and continuous improvement. The Safety Manager will work closely with operations, maintenance, employees, and corporate safety leadership to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, conduct audits and training, and maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, QMS, and EMS requirements. Key Responsibilities Facilitate the plant safety program and support established safety targets and objectives. Partner with the Safety Director on safety and environmental programs, inspections, training, and compliance activities. Conduct safety meetings and promote employee participation and awareness. Assist with new-hire safety orientations. Develop and update JSAs, work instructions, training materials, testing programs, risk assessments, and safety documentation. Conduct routine safety, environmental, and PPE inspections and audits. Maintain regular interaction with employees to identify hazards and reinforce safe work practices. Track and report near misses and assist with corrective action development and follow-up. Partner with Operations and Maintenance to identify practical solutions for unsafe conditions. Support ergonomic assessments, machine guarding analyses, Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and APQP activities. Coordinate with third-party insurance administrators on claims and assist with light-duty assignments. Maintain required production, safety, environmental, QMS, and EMS documentation. Ensure awareness and compliance with applicable environmental requirements and OSHA regulations. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience in safety involving environmental compliance and training. Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards . Knowledge of EPA and environmental compliance requirements . Degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, including the ability to organize and present safety data. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to climb stairs and walk extended distances throughout a manufacturing facility. Ability to work periodically in hot or cold industrial environments. Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor and wearing required PPE, including hearing protection in designated areas.
