Job Description
Job purpose The Quality Food Safety Supervisor is vital to the success of our process by ensuring strict adherence to our food safety and quality procedures and processes. The primary role of this position is to investigate food safety and quality issues and maintain food safety programs as outlined in the Food Safety HACCP Plan. Duties and responsibilities
- Support and direct Quality Technicians and Food Safety Sanitation Technicians with guidance from the Quality Food Safety Manager.
- Investigate and address quality and food safety issues. This includes coaching, monitoring, and documenting corrective and preventative actions.
- Coach production employees on best practices for quality and food safety including learning common production issues and resolutions.
- Assign verification tasks stemming from the Food Safety HACCP Plan and monitor for compliance.
- Direct our internal procedural employee training program: o Lead in-person training that focuses on food safety, plant safety, and GMPs. o Plan annual refresher training opportunities to ensure ongoing compliance. o Recordkeeping; prepare dated and signed training records for applicable employee files.
- Uphold all applicable SQF and FSMA standards.
- Perform tests and review documents to determine approval for incoming ingredients and materials and outgoing finished products.
- Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance of all standard operating procedures.
- Ensure finished products, raw ingredients, and materials are placed on hold if they do not meet our quality and food safety standards.
- Perform analytical instrument calibrations and maintenance, report and correct any deficiencies.
- Assist with development of SOPs to meet regulatory requirements.
- Onboard and train new QA and Food Safety technicians with assistance from QA and Sanitation Leads.
- Order and maintain production, quality, and sanitation tools and supplies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Responsible to adhere to all facility Food Safety and Quality Programs including reporting food safety concerns or issues. Qualifications
- Three to five years' applicable work experience.
- SQF Practitioner preferred.
- PCQI Certified preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all departments.
- Excellent computer skills, proficient in all Microsoft applications.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Weekend availability and ability to work overtime as needed.
