An Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director is responsible for directing the strategic approach to managing the environmental impact of an organization on the surrounding area. Responsible for ensuring that the organization has a systematic approach to complying with environmental regulations, such as managing waste or air emissions. Will liaise with directors of other sections of the organization to ensure that strategic goals align with those of the environmental health and safety team.

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environment Leader-Moderate Complexity to join our Health and Safety team of Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems (CDBS) in Fletcher, NC. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Champion a strong health, safety, and environmental mindset by modeling best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and using data‑driven insights to protect people and the organization. •To be successful in this role you will need the following: •Cross ‑ functional partnership: Ability to build strong relationships across functions to ensure clarity of roles, shared accountability, and active employee involvement in HSE programs; bilingual Spanish is a nice ‑ to ‑ have that can enhance communication.
Regulatory and technical expertise:
Strong understanding of HSE regulations, compliance obligations, emergency preparedness, and management systems to lead daily operations and support regulatory interactions. Data ‑ driven decision making: Capability to collect, analyze, and interpret performance data and KPIs to identify risks, evaluate trends, and drive strategic and tactical improvements.
Inclusive leadership and communication:
Effective coaching, communication, and team‑development skills that value diverse perspectives and strengthen HSE culture; bilingual Spanish remains beneficial but not required.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental required. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.
Experience:
Significant relevant experience required, including management of health, safety and/or environmental ISO Standards required. 5-7 years of experience, 1-2 years management experience.
