Qualifications:
The Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting day-to-day and long-term safety and health activities for all mill operations and helping support mill alignment with corporate initiatives and priorities. The position interfaces directly with department leaders and Safety Facilitators to ensure everyone understands the mill and regulatory compliance mandates. This is an individual contributor role, but qualified candidates must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others outside of their line of supervision. To be considered, the candidate must have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple and complex assignments. He / she must understand team dynamics; and have the ability to lead a diverse workforce. The candidate must be able to lead meetings, conduct training, have strong listening skills; as well as, have the ability to effectively manage change and handle conflict in the workplace. Successful candidates will have a strong propensity to lead an effective hazard recognition program and use data to identify improvements. Excellent written communication, documentation, and organization skills are necessary for success. The position requires use of both specialized computer applications for safety management as well as proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
Requirements:
Position requires a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety (or related field) and a minimum of 5+ years' experience supporting industrial health & safety programs preferably in heavy industrial manufacturing environments, an appropriate professional certification, or equivalent experience. Must be willing to travel up to 20 % of the time. Preference will be given to candidates with: Emergency Response and Coordination expertise, including coordination of confined space rescue teams and HAZMAT response. Incident investigation experience along with demonstrated history of implementing effective, sustainable corrective actions. Process Safety Management experience Prior use of Point Online, Power Apps, and Power BI. Expertise integrating Lean Principles into safety programs and procedures.
