Eligibility for benefits may vary by location and is determined by employment status Job Summary The Patient Safety Manager will have primary oversight of the facility-wide patient program. This leadership role will direct others withing the facility towards process improvements to support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. This practitioner provides leadership for safety assessments, coordinates the activities for the patient safety function or committee, educates other practitioners on the system-based cause for medical errors, consults with management and staff, and communicates literature-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others within the organization. Responsibilities Investigates patient safety issues within the organization Leads or facilitates Root Cause Analysis, Focused Reviews, and Intense Analyss Ensures timely identification of trends and implementation of corrective and preventative actions. Maintain compliance with audits and monitoring as defined in action pans Reviews and closes all Safety Events reported in the event reporting system Verifies all Safety Events are routed to the appropriate department leaders for review Notifies Risk Management of potential risk issues
Qualifications Required:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a patient care related field
Experience:
5+ years of combined experience in clinical practice and progressive healthcare leadership experience
Licensure/Certification:
CPPS certification or eligible to take the exam within one year of employment

2 years of experience in Patient Safety, Quality, Risk Management, or healthcare operations Organization Description Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett is a 196-bed full service hospital located at 2986 Kate Bond Rd in Bartlett. Opened in 2004, the hospital provides an extensive offering of medical services including a 24-hour emergency room, critical care, cardiac care, oncology, urology, physical therapy and a 16-bed orthopedic/spine unit.
