In this role, you will be the driving force behind our safety culture, ensuring absolute compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will oversee safety initiatives across diverse environments, including field service, heavy mechanical construction, sheet metal fabrication shops, and fleet operations. The ideal candidate will balance rigorous regulatory enforcement with a collaborative approach that empowers field technicians and project managers to prioritize safety every day. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Safety Culture Develop, implement, and continuously refine comprehensive Safety Management Systems (SMS) and injury prevention programs tailored to commercial mechanical trades. Cultivate a proactive, zero-incident safety culture through continuous engagement with field technicians, plumbers, and project managers. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety metrics, delivering regular data-driven updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure strict corporate compliance with all OSHA (Construction and General Industry), EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations. Lead all responses, mitigation strategies, and documentation for third-party safety audits, OSHA inspections, and insurance carrier reviews. Manage the Worker's Compensation claims process from initial incident through return-to-work programs, collaborating closely with HR and insurance adjusters. Field Auditing & Incident Investigation Direct a rigorous program of unannounced job site safety audits to identify hazards related to rigging, trenching, scaffolding, hot work, and electrical safety. Lead root-cause analysis investigations for all field accidents, near-misses, and fleet vehicle incidents, implementing swift corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Training & Fleet Safety Design and deploy mechanical trade-specific training programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Trenching/Excavation, and Arc Flash Safety (NFPA 70E). Partner with Fleet Management to oversee commercial driver safety programs, telematics monitoring, and DOT compliance for service and installation vehicles.

Required Qualifications Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field, combined with 7+ years of safety leadership experience specifically within the commercial construction, mechanical (HVAC), or plumbing trades.

Certifications:

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation is highly preferred. Must hold an OSHA 30-Hour Construction card and be an authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer.

Trade Knowledge:

Deep, technical understanding of hazards unique to mechanical contracting, including heavy crane rigging, high-pressure piping, refrigeration safety, specialized welding/brazing, and trenching.

Travel:
